I used to think it was a fluke, but they have proved that’s clearly not the case. Bretnford FC have plucked out another striker who, to be quite frank, is sensational!

This striker goes by the name of Igor Thiago. The Brazilian, signed from Club Brugge, follows a long line of talented forward players to play for The Bees. Ironically, another example of this is Atletico Madrid, the Spanish giants, just like their English counterparts, have been the home of exceptional strikers.

In their case, Fernando Torres, Sergio Agüero, Diego Forlan and Falcao have been examples of what I call Premier strikers playing their trade in Madrid. More recent examples are those of Antonie Griezmann, Julian Alvarez, and Alexander Sorloth. Ironically, just like Brentford, they too don the red and white colours on their shirts.

West London side Brentford have had Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbuemo, and Ollie Watkins on their books. Recently departed Yann Wissa, now at Newcastle, is another example of a talented striker who once played at the G-Tech Community Stadium.

It’s a real credit to the scouting team to Brentford that they managed to keep sourcing strikers who settle well in the Premier League and turn out to be superb strikers; they turn out so good that they can be sold off for a healthy profit.

A real testament to the work they’re doing at Brentford and the conveyor belt of talent they can source at will, almost.
