When the former AZ Alkmar and Feyenoord manager Arne Slot took over Liverpool last season, due to Jurgen Klopp standing down, many of their fans were a tad sceptical. That’s understandable to a point, but did they need to worry?

The 47-year-old Dutchman had never managed out of his homeland. But it’s clear to see that Arne is a competent coach. In seasons gone by, Tottenham have been linked with him, which I am sure they rue the fact that they passed up on the chance.

If Arne Slot turned them down, then they should have begged him to reconsider. As I am sure you’re aware, football fans, as to why I am mentioning the Liverpool manager.

Last night, The Reds lost to Wolves, the Midlanders who are all but relegated. That they may be, but in the last month, they have picked up some very good results against the top sides, with the greatest respect to the other teams in the League.

I argue that Man United kick-started their (Wolves’) little resurgence in the League. Liverpool losing last night isn’t that much of a surprise due to Wanderers’ resurgence.

This result has arguably increased the tension on Slot, which is harsh, but the Liverpool manager has been under pressure, almost the whole season. Granted, their title defence has been disappointing, but football fans, we forgot the general rule of thumb.

In-bedding a lot of signings at once doesn’t always work. Fulham, when they got promoted once upon a time, they went straight back down.

So give the guy a break, please. The grass isn’t always greener, just to remind those who think it’s time to replace Arne Slot.
