Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have wasted little time in naming Thomas Frank’s successor, after they announced they have appointed former Juventus, Marseille, Galatasaray and Hajduk Split manager Igor Tudor, until the end of the season.
The former defender played in Serie A with The Old Lady and earned his reputation as a tough-tackling, no-nonsense defender. He manages like one, too. When the manager of French side Marseille, Tudor, dropped Dimitri Payet, their best player.
Why? He didn’t track back enough. Maddi, Richarlison and the rest of the Tottenham forward line, you have been warned. The appointment of Igor Tudor has an argument for and against, and they both fall under the same category.
Tudor can be successful at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium due to being a no-nonsense character. Arguably, players like Djed Spence and Micky Van de Ven will get a wake-up call from this.
Under Thomas Frank, there was footage which appeared to show that he was undermined by both of these players. With Igor Tudor, he won’t let that happen, which could be a bad thing.
Disciplinarians like Jose Mourinho (which is a lazy way to describe his management), has rubbed certain players the wrong way with his very tough approach sometimes.
This approach could turn players against the manager. Tottenham are a team with fragile confidence. Those men need their confidence boosted. Some might argue this is ridiculous, but football players are human, too, and they have a mind.
It’s a nice, ‘easy’ game for the 47-year-old to start with, Arsenal on 22nd February at The Tottenham Hotspur.
