After appearing all set to sign former Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher, Aston Villa look set to miss out on the former Blues man, as he nears a move to North London side Tottenham.

Gallagher, who does have a good relationship with Atletico boss Diego Simeone, will cost in the region of £35 million. The Lillywhites have had to speed up this signing of the England international due to injuries to first team players such as Bentancur.

Spurs’ midfield crisis is that bad that only Paulinha and Archie Gray are the only fit midfielders for Tottenham. This move could arguably favour all parties as Spurs get a long-term target and Gallacher gets to move back home and try force his way into England boss Thomas Tuchel’s plans for this summer’s World Cup.
