One of the greatest to do it, Michael van Gerwen, was almost in a struggle for progressing to the next round of the World Darts Championship after his contest in the first round.
The Dutchman faced Japanese darts player Mitsuhiko Tatsunami in what was though to be a comfortable victory for the world #3.
In the first set, Tatsunami was giving van Gerwen problems and won three legs to one.
The 52-year-old was then two legs up in the second set, but ‘The Green Machine’ managed to comeback and win the set.
Finally finding his mojo, MVG then comfortably won the third set, 3-1, as the favourite was thought to have a shaky start but an easy finish.
However, set four was not so easy as Tatsunami was up two legs and came close multiple times for the match to go the distance.
After some crucial missed checkouts, van Gerwen proved why he was the comeback king in the sport as he won the fourth set 3-2 to advance to the next round of the tournament.
While he was not victorious, Tatsunami certainly brought a lot of energy and respect from the fans which clearly motivated him.
It’s a possibility that he felt the pressure on some game-winning darts against a legend of the sport.
