Wrestling fans will forever treasure and reminisce the legacy of the greatest of all time as he performed one final time at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
John Cena made his final appearance in Washington DC at the Capital One Arena as his retirement tour came to an end.
The 17-time world champion faced Gunther who was decided as Cena’s final opponent after winning the Last Time Is Now tournament.
The match provided plenty of action as Cena threw all he could using his finishing move, the Attitude Adjustment, multiple times.
However, the two-time Royal Rumble winner ended his career with a loss as he tapped out to the Austrian in a sleeper hold, leaving fans in shock since Cena’s popular catchphrase always shows ‘Never Give Up’.
After such a gut-wrenching defeat, he was greeted by World Champion CM Punk and WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes as they gave their titles and allowed the West Newbury-born superstar to lift them as a show of appreciation.
Cena said his farewell by bowing to each side of the crowd, before taking off his boots and wristbands, leaving them in the ring before giving one final salute on the stage.
While we know Cena will never compete in a WWE match ever again, a possible returning appearance can never be impossible for the 48-year-old.
