Former two-division champion Henry Cejudo has confirmed that the weekend will be his last ride in mixed martial arts.
‘Triple C’ is set to face 135lbs prospect Payton Talbott in the main card of UFC 323 as he aims to make the most of his last bow.
The 38-year-old has been on the top of his game against the toughest competition and believes now is the time to leave his gloves in the Octagon.
Speaking with MMA Junkie, Cejudo said: “This is it for me. I’ve done this at the highest level since I was eleven years old.
“I have a couple of kids who want to play with their dad 27/7. This one is just about giving it my all.”
The Los Angeles-born fighter became the first man to defeat Demetrious Johnson at flyweight, taking the undisputed title at UFC 227.
Cejudo successfully defended the 125lbs belt against TJ Dillashaw before becoming a simultaneous two-division champion at UFC 238 when he beat Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight title.
The bantamweight championship was defended at UFC 249 where Triple C defeated Dominick Cruz and marked his retirement.
The American returned to the sport after three years, just edging a split decision loss against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288 as he came close to regaining the bantamweight title.
But, that is where his downfall began as losses to Merab Dvalishvili and Song Yadong pushed him down the 135lbs rankings and forced home to retire.
