The UFC has celebrated Mexican Independence Day by giving some incredible fight nights.

Last year, with the help from Riyadh Season, UFC 306 was hosted at the Sphere in Las Vegas, earning its highest gate in the history of the organisation.

This time, a fight night takes place in San Antonio, just hours before Canelo vs Crawford begins, as Diego Lopes and Jean Silva highlight the card.

Here is what you need to know about the two Brazilians with their upcoming five-round contest just one day away.

Lopes fought for the vacant title in his last battle, but was unsuccessful in his quest for championship glory, losing to Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision at UFC 314.

The 30-year-old has only made seven appearances in the UFC since he began in May 2023, becoming one of the best 145-pounde fighters already.

Despite going the distance in his last three contests, the #2 contender rarely goes the distance with his victories as 10 of his wins have ended by KO/TKO and 12 by submission.

Eager to redeem his previous loss, the Maunaus-born mixed martial artist wants to make a statement victory in the hopes of claiming a rematch with the current King of the Featherweights.

Silva entered the division’s rankings in his last bout after dominating Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314, winning by second-round submission with a Ninja Choke.

The Fighting Nerds mixed martial artist has been a very hyped prospect in the UFC, fighting five times with the company and stopping every opponent he has faced.

Just like his opponent, the 28-year-old doesn’t like seeing the judges scorecards as 15 of his 16 professional triumphs have ended in a finish, 12 by KO/TKO and three by submission.

‘Lord’ Silva has an incredible opportunity of boosting up the rankings and straight into title contention as he goes toe-to-toe with his toughest test yet.
