AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw has agreed to join Newcastle United. The former Schalke centre-back, 24, has signed for The Magpies for a fee in the region of £34.6 million.
This deal for the young German could have been scuppered by Manchester United, who made a last-ditch effort to sign the 24-year-old Thiaw, and how the Newcastle hierarchy can breathe a sigh of relief.
They were surely thinking that, after losing out on Mbuemo, Sesko, and Cunha to Man United, surely it wouldn’t be a fourth player, Malick Thiaw. If the words of the ex-Milan are anything to go by, for him, it was always Newcastle United.
Thiaw isn’t the only player to say no to Man United over the years and choose Newcastle. Jermaine Jenas, Alan Shearer, and Paul Gascoigne are just a few examples. Are there any more?
