Manchester United have agreed a £74 million deal for RBLeipzig’s Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko. Sesko, 22, has attracted a lot of interest this summer from Europe’s top clubs.

Chelsea, Liverpool and of course Newcastle, who were in direct competition with The Red Devils for Sesko. Tall, strong and with a good aerial prowess, the natural comparisons to former Man United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be there.

The pursuit of Benjamin Sesko sees the end of the need for a striker for United. This deal will come with a lot of risk for both the club and the player. The Slovenian has turned down Champions League football for a move to Old Trafford.

I don’t think I would have done the same. Surely the Champions League is the pinnacle for all pros in Europe? As for Man United, Benjamin Sesko scored 13 goals in 33 games, a relatively modest return, considering his age, it’s maybe not so bad.

To be fair to Manchester United, they have prepared for this signing beforehand by boosting the creativity and flair on the side through the signing of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo.

For a young man leaving for a comfortable environment, it’s a big challenge, where naturally the football world (maybe just United fans) will wish him well.

The contract length, when fully agreed upon by Benjamin Sesko, is expected to be till 2030.
