Following the bombshell of Alexander Isak, Newcastle will almost certainly need to shop for a replacement for their star man at this point. Isak, 25, has said he wants to ‘explore’ a move away from the club. 

The Magpies will be in full knowledge that it’s not advisable to keep an unhappy player. It’s all fair and well that Alexander Isak wants to assess his options, but due to FFP, the question is, what are his options? 

Teams like Real and Barcelona can’t afford him. The very little money that Catalan giants Barcelona have, they have spent it on Marcus Rashford. According to reports, Eddie Howe’s side is considering Benjamin Sesko to be the man to replace Isak. 

On the face of it, in Sesko, The Magpies are getting a good player, but I think Newcastle should assess other options. Atlanta’s Ademola Lookman is one. The Nigerian, formerly of Charlton and Everton, has been in sensational form since joining Bergamo.

Under the tutelage of Giasperini, Lookman has been a man on fire in Italy. There is the question of whether Ademola Lookman, who moved to Newcastle, would be able to adjust to Eddie Howe’s methods.

I don’t see why not. The plus point about signing Lookman is that this man knows where the goal is; two seasons ago, he was the leading scorer in the Europa League. 

Ademola Lookman is reportedly valued at £40 million. Still, with Inter Milan trying to secure a deal at the time of writing, Newcastle may have missed out on a player with Premier League experience who would have been a bargain.

If not Lookman, then surely Dusan Vlahovic! The Juve man, formerly of Fiorentina, although he has lost his way the past season or two, is an undoubted talent. 

The Serbian is a man who knows where the goal is. A young Isak was raw and not the best at converting chances when he arrived at St James Park, but over a few seasons, that has now changed.
