Adios, Marcos, is what some Manchester United fans might say. Love him or loathe him, 27-year-old Marcus Rashford has not divided the Man U fan base since Paul Pogba, I would say.
The issue lies with the man himself; he was inconsistent, blowing hot and cold. One season, he was in sizzling form, a form that led to speculation he was going to join French giants PSG. With the greatest respect, this enduring form saw him linked and seal a loan move with Aston Villa.
Let’s not get this twisted. Villa are the mighty Villa, more mighty than Man United anyway. Let’s get that fact out there. But compared to five-time Champions League winners Barcelona?
Chalk and cheese. Back to the subject matter and that is Marcus Rashford. His reputation precedes him. As he has an urban influence, just like Phil Foden and other youngsters of today, if his performances go by the wayside, he becomes a target to a point.
Several figures have said that Rashford ‘doesn’t deserve the move’ to Camp Nou, and no, he most certainly doesn’t. However, one can’t begrudge the Englishman that he has got his dream move.
Marcus Rashford has the potential to set La Liga alight, but football fans have been waiting for so long for the spark to light and stay lit. At Villa Park, there was a spark; there was something there.
It wasn’t his fault that injury curtailed his season. As a Man U fan, I want to say all the best, wishing you well, but regarding your talent and the way you conducted yourself on the pitch, you let yourself down.
Under Hansi Flick at Barcelona, albeit for just one season initially, one would think that the former Bayern coach would be the coach to instill some discipline.
The German helped keep Lamine Yamnal disciplined, so why not Rashford?
