Premier League champions Liverpool have continued their busy summer transfer window with the signing of Preston keeper Freddie Woodman. The 28-year-old Woodman started his career at Newcastle and has had various loan spells at Championship clubs, such as Swansea.

The champions have signed Woodman to compensate for the loss of Caoimhín Kelleher, who signed for Premier League rivals Brentford in an £18 million deal.

Amongst the former Bournemouth loanee’s achievements are being a World Cup winner with England Under-20s in 2017 and also a European Championship winner with his country three years prior in 2014.

The Englishman will arguably be third-choice at Anfield, but if last season was anything to go by where Alison did have injuries, then Woodman should not completely write off the hope of some decent game time.
No doubt the Newcastle trainee will not want to be the next Scott Carson.
