Brentford have acted swiftly in their pursuit of a replacement for their departed manager, Thomas Frank, by agreeing on a deal with Keith Andrews (their set piece coach) to be their new manager.
Andrews, formerly of Blackburn and MK Dons as a player, has also had coaching experience after being involved in the Irish set-up. The 44-year-old has agreed a three-year deal to take over at the Gtech Community Stadium.
One can’t help but think he has his work cut out for him, especially with the soon-to-be departures of Bryan Mbuemo and Christian Norgaard, who appear to be edging towards moves to Manchester United and Arsenal, respectively.
To be fair to The Bees, in the past decade or so, they have an excellent track record of hiring managers. Uwe Rosler, Dean Smith and Thomas Frank have all done admirable work in West London.
Keith Andrews’ first game in the Premier League is away to last year’s surprise package, Nottingham Forest.
