When Everton manager Sean Dyche was sacked, several names were linked to replacing the former Burnley manager. One of those was quickly established as former manager David Moyes.

Of course, Moyes had a very successful first spell with the club. The Toffees would be forever punching above their weight in the 10 seasons that the former Preston manager was there.

A couple of finishes in the top four, but always in the top half of the table, is an achievement to be admired. Football fans took him for granted. Brushed aside at Man United, Sunderland, and Real Sociedad, the boo boys were in full voice.
They happily chirped away that this was the end of David Moyes, but much to everyone’s surprise, West Ham owners David Gold and David Sullivan gave him a job.
The football world thought they had gone mad, but ‘crazier’ things were to come. After keeping The Hammers in the Premier League, Manuel Pellegrini would take over, but he would be replaced by none other than David Moyes, then the man he replaced.
This was indeed a bad move from the Everton manager to return to one of his old stomping grounds. Well, it didn’t turn out that way. A European Conference League would be won, and West Ham would get into the Europa League semi-final.

The East London side would keep qualifying for Europe, but as what happened in the first spell, they got tired of Moyes’ reign, and like he did the first team, he would leave to be replaced by a manager who did a worse job than he did.

West Ham have replaced Lopategui with Graham Potter. Only time will tell if they have eventually replaced David Moyes. One thing is for certain: Love him, loathe him, and not understand him, David Moyes.

So, with the experience of his time at the London Stadium in mind, we can say, not fully safely, as this is the world of football, but with a degree of safety, that Moyes will do well with Everton in his second spell.
So far, it’s been so good. Let’s hope that continues.
