After one of their worst seasons under Pep Guardiola, the powers that be have decided to open the chequebook to arrest the slump and salvage a season hanging by a thread.
The Cityzens are out of the Carabao Cup and are still in the Champions League, but their hopes are hanging by a thread. Omar Marmoush, the Eintracht Frankfurt forward, has garnered a lot of headlines, arguably due to being in the same League as England captain Harry Kane.
Having analysed the 25-year-old Egyptian, I have decided that he is a replacement for Julien Alvarez. Maybe Marmoush’s goal-scoring capabilities can help City’s central striker, Erling Haaland, feel less of a burden to score goals.
Aboukodir Khusanov from Lens and Vitor Reis are the other players to have joined the club. Both men are defenders, which will help address their defensive problems.
The main defensive problem is solving their left-back problem. Despite being a man of many talents, Pep should get a natural left-back and worry about fitting them somewhere else on the pitch later.
I don’t know too much about these two, but surely Man City needs to double down on their efforts to sign a defensive midfielder. Their former player, Douglas Luiz, has been linked with a loan move, and former player Joshua Kimmich has also been linked with the club.
They usually say January is a bad time to buy. In Man City’s case, maybe this is the get-out-of-jail card they need. Signing a defensive midfielder would be the icing on the cake.
Ederson of Atalanta was suggested, but with the 25-year-old trying to help the Bergamo side win Serie A, any transfer will undoubtedly be completed in the summer. City fans, we would love to hear from you. Good signings or not?
