Former Derby, Chelsea and Everton boss Frank Lampard has been appointed the new boss of Coventry City. The former Chelsea midfielder has been appointed head coach, replacing the famous Mark Robins, who was controversially sacked before the last international break.

Robins has been with The Sky Blues for seven years before his controversial sacking.

During his tenure at the Coventry Building Society Arena, the former Manchester United striker took Coventry City to a kick away from the Premier League and a kick away from the semi-final of the FA Cup.

Mark Robins’ successor, the 46-year-old Frank Lampard, has inherited a very talented squad, and there will be a lot of pressure on the former Derby coach to get this side promoted after so many near misses.

Football clubs can sometimes lack graciousness, and to be completely blunt, Coventry owner Doug King hasn’t covered himself in glory. But to be fair to the man, he did address his reasoning on Talk Sport as to why the popular Robins was shown the door.

Frank Lampard has signed a deal with Coventry City until 2027.
