I'm sure I speak on behalf of many football fans when I say this: We're sorry, Garry. Not that, Gary; I am referring to current Wolves manager Gary O'Neil. 

Gary O'Neil, a dynamic, steely and determined midfielder in his playing days, has taken several of those characteristics into management. In the Premier League, O'Neil has managed Bournemouth and earned considerable respectability.

Scott Parker left Bournemouth under a cloud following his sacking, and Julien Lapotegui was the same when he left Wolves. Parker and Lapotegui left their clubs in difficult positions, but Gary put on his Superman costume, saved both clubs and got them stable. 

Despite that, we football fans, well, most of us, have fallen into the same trap. 

We're quick to put the man down before giving him the praise he deserves. 

He's been struggling this season with Wolves. The man couldn't buy a win. The daggers were out, and people suggested he might be one of the following managers on the chopping block. 

How he laughed at us. At the start of November, a big six-pointer battle was between them and Crystal Palace. Wolves should have won, but they could only draw that one. It was an ample opportunity blown. 

Wanderers fans, you would have to wait one more week for your first win of the season, a 2-0 win against fellow strugglers Southampton. That win was followed up with an impressive 4-1 win against Fulham. 

I'm sorry, Garry. We're wrong. You're the man. You're doing it again, proving us wrong and making us look silly.
