Champions Bayer Leverkusen threw away a two-goal lead as they drew with lowly Holstein. This is not the first time this has happened to Xabi Alonso’s men. Earlier in the season, they lost two RB Leipzig, who are currently second in the table.

In this round of fixtures, they edged out Heidenheim 1-0, courtesy of one of the form players in Europe, Lewis Openda. This result, which could be very important come the end of the season, is important now as it’s brought Marco Rose’s side level with Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich, who conceded a late goal to draw 3-3 with Eintracht Frankfurt.

It’s been a tough week for Kompany’s Bayern, who were beaten by Aston Villa in midweek and have now suffered this setback. See you next week for the last round of matches before the International Break.
