This year’s Premier League season is now starting to get into full swing. As the games have been happening, one common theme seems prevalent. Several players seem to be rejuvenated and enjoying a new lease of life.
For example, Chelsea’s Nicholas Jackson. The Senegal forward wasn’t terrible last year but did have some moments of poor finishing, which led to some brutal memes appearing on social media, memes not too dissimilar to the ones one would associate with Darwin Nunez.
Currently, in England’s top flight, he’s the top scorer for The Blues and looks every bit the signing he promised to be when he signed for Villareal a couple of seasons back.
Jackson’s teammate Jadon Sancho, who is on loan from Manchester United, seems to be another. Two assists from two games is a very positive start to life at Stamford Bridge.
It could be argued that Sancho showed signs of recapturing his form last season while at Borussia Dortmund, but this year, I get the hint that with Chelsea, he looks just that bit more at home.
This has no relation to the deal Jadon Sancho has agreed with Chelsea. The other example I was going to give was Marcus Rashford, but he doesn’t fit into what I am talking about here, as I argue Jackson and Sancho have started their seasons off well from the get-go.
Another example, and in this man’s case, is one of the very reasons I am writing this article, Jhon Dhuran. The former Chicago Fire striker was heavily rumoured to be getting sold by Villa last term and, at the start of this term, had all but joined West Ham United.
The move broke down for unknown reasons, and the American remained a Vila player. Regarding this failed move, I was of the opinion—and I am sure I wasn’t the only one to think this—that Dhuran could be affected by it.
Instead of getting disappointed, to the youngster’s immense credit, he has been on an incredible run of form this term. Despite starting on the bench, he’s the club’s top scorer with four goals.
