After a serious wobble in their second innings, Bangladesh were able to recover and win the second test against Pakistan by four wickets, which gave them a 2-0 series lead and whitewash.

After being under the captaincy of Babar Azam, the PCB opted for a change of captain after they deemed Azam’s captaincy not up to the mark in test cricket. With not having the responsibility of the captaincy, many were waiting for King Babar to almost win games on his own.

In terms of this match, the home side Pakistan made 274 all out, with Saim Ayub (58), Salman Agha (54) and Shaan Masood (57) hitting 50’s. After reducing the tourists to 26/6, inexplicably Najmul Hossain Shanto’s men got back into the game in the first innings and finished on 262 all out.

Liton Das (138) and Mehidy Hasan Shiraz, kept up his good batting form in this series (78). What should have been a bigger lead for Masood’s men was only just a 12-run lead, which shrunk even during the time they were batting. Pakistan were (9-2) at one point.

It didn’t get any better for the hosts as they were shot all out for 172. Despite knocks from Salman Agha (47) and Mohammed Rizwan (43), Pakistan could only muster a very small second innings total in reply to their first.
Sadly for Shaan’s men, this is a case of Deja Vu as this is what they did in the first test.

So Pakistan’s second innings failings with the bat meant that Bangladesh needed just 185 to win the second and deciding test.

Despite losing the wickets of Zakir Hasan (40), Shadman Islam (24), Najmal Hossain Shanto (38) and Mominul Haque (34), the tourists were able to secure a memorable win.

This defeat continues the home side of Pakistan’s miserable form. As for Bangladesh, it gives them an outside chance of progression to the World Test Championship finals.
