After chasing him all summer, Manchester United have made significant progress in their attempts to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Red Devils have agreed to a £42.29 million deal, hot off the heels of when United accepted Napoli’s bid (£25.37) for Scott McTominay.

The deal for the former Sporting Lisbon player Ugarte is based on the deal for McTominay getting completed, but it’s understood that there shouldn’t be. Last season the Scottish international was linked with a move away from the club which didn’t materialise.

With the profit and sustainability rules that are in place, the powers that be at United are aware that they were going to have to sell homegrown players to bridge the gap.

Manuel Ugarte’s impending move to Manchester United means that The Reds have spent £190 million on transfers.
