Premier League side Brighton have completed the signing of Mats Weiffer from Eredivisie champions Feyenoord, the 24-year-old has signed a deal at the Amex Stadium until 2029.

The eventual cost of the transfer, a Dutch League record, could go up to £25.4 million, depending if certain add-on clauses are met.

Although not in the current Euro 2024 squad, Kieffer was capped by his country in March 2023. This signing for The Seagulls could help them plug the gaps left by Alexis Macallister and Moises Caicedo, although we understand him to be more in the mould of the Ecuadorian.

Surprisingly for Brighton, this is an area of the pitch that they haven’t provided an adequate replacement just yet. Caicedo’s initial replacement was Mahmoud Dahoud, formerly of Borussia Dortmund, but he has since returned to his native Germany, all be it on an initial loan.
