Former Norwich and current defender Ben Godfrey is set to leave the club after the Merseysiders Everton agreed to sell him to Atalanta for £10 million. French side Lyon did table a £12.7 million bid, but it’s last season’s Europa League winners who have got their man.
Godfrey was a £25 million signing from Norwich in 2020 and went on to make 93 appearances for the club, which included 16 last season. The Toffee have been busy in the transfer market and opted to sell the defender as he has just 12 months remaining on his deal.
Ben Godfrey, joins Lewis Dobbin and Arnaut Danjuma in leaving the club. Forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future is far from certain. Still, with one year left of his deal and Everton reportedly in talks with Ilman N’Diaye of Marseille and formerly of Sheffield United, this could make things clearer.
Sean Dyche’s Everton deserves to be applauded for getting their business completed nice and early.
