Kalakota Knight Riders won their third IPL title after an emphatic eight-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Winning the toss, SRH opted to bat first, which proved to be a doomed decision.
Throughout the tournament Pat Cummins’ side were able to post high totals. Travis Head and Henrich Klaasen being some of the players who were crucial for the Sunrisers during the tournament.
In the final, from the SRH perspective, they sadly crumbled and were all out for a paltry 113. Captain Cummins top scored for Hyderabad with 24. As disappointing as the 2016 IPL winners were with the bat, full-credit must be given to two-time winners KKR.
Harshit Rana (2-24) and Mitchell Starc (2-14 off 3 overs), were superb. Not forgetting to mention Sunil Narine, he too chipped in with 1-16 off his four overs. So, it was just 114 The Knight Riders needed to win, which can sometimes be easier said than done.
Sometimes, this can be a tricky target to chase down, but on Sunday afternoon UK time, KKR were strolling to their third title. I don’t think anyone can say that they envisaged this would be the final before the IPL started.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Knight Riders last won the tournament in 2014, and now 10 years can celebrate another title.
