Pakistan’s cricketers produced a commanding performance to see off Ireland in the third and final T20I of the series, to win the series 2-1. Batting first hosts Ireland made 178-7, which included a superb 73 from stand-in skipper Lorcan Tucker.

Former skipper Andrew Balbirnie (35) combined with Tucker to put on 85 for the second wicket. Usually, in terms of the way the series has gone, the hosts would lose early wickets, but would then be bailed out by their middle-order.

On this occasion, bar Harry Tector, no one else from the Ireland batting line-up got past double figures. As a result, the home side’s 178-7 appeared to be well short and so it proved.

The tourists would lose Saim Ayub relatively early, but seasoned opening partners Babar Azam who was batting at number three (75) and Mohammed Rizwan (56) put on 139 for the second wicket.

Both Babar and Rizwan would fall in quick succession, as would Iftikhar Ahmed, but Pakistan need not worry about a collapse as Azam Khan (18 off six balls). helped see his side home.

Next up for the T20 runner’s up is a series with defending World Champions England
