After experiencing one of the worst-ever seasons in the modern, Manchester United’s season stooped to a new low after a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The Eagles were brilliant and The Red Devils will need to cleanse themselves and repent from this sinful footballing behaviour.
United had players injured, which is the excuse line getting towed, but this is getting a bit old and tiresome. When will the powers that be at United realise, enough is enough and the fact it’s time to bring an end to the comedy club?
Against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, there was an air of damage limitation. The Gunners needed three points, and there was a genuine belief Mikel Arteta’s men will go to Old Trafford and be professional to grind out a win, of any kind.
That’s what title-chasing Arsenal would do as well. With the greatest respect for them, even Burnley were able to get a point at Old Trafford. I mention The Clarets, due to them not being able to get points on the road at many other grounds.
But at United, they did so comfortably and with more luck they might have pinched all three. This heavy defeat by Palace isn’t the first time this has happened.
The 7-0 against Liverpool, the 6-3 to Manchester City and there’s more, of course there is, but United’s board have not been moved. David Moyes has been sacked for less than Louis Van Gaal, Jose and even Ole too have been shown the door when they have been hamstrung.
Which player did Erik Ten Haag not get? Onana has been signed based on ETH’s recommendation as was Latauro Martinez, as was Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat.
Even this factor should be a case of, well he’s the manager he should get the players he needs. In this instance, Ten Haag has shown and argued the case without knowing why a Director of Football is needed.
Under Ajax’s system, he was just fine, this is why I argue Erik Ten Haag’s time at United needs to be over. To further put a nail in the coffin, the former Ajax boss is making some comments that border on straight-out delusion.
Also, the former Twente assistant suggested Mourinho got the players he wanted as United boss. Erik, whatever you don’t pick a fight with Jose, I have known of no one who has come out on top of a battle of wits against the Portuguese.
So, I have identified that Man United are in a mess, so the question is, who is going to clean the mess? I would love to say David Moyes if they go with the British option, but Ratcliffe and co reportedly want England manager Gareth Southgate.
This would be a bad choice, if United are serious about wanting to get back to being competitive, surely they need to be looking to appoint Zinedine Zidane. The former Real Madrid boss is on the market and appears to be a stronger character when it comes to controlling superstars.
When at the Bernabeu Zizou was Ronaldo’s manager and in that period, CR7 took his game to unprecedented heights. So, there you have it, my case as to why Erik Ten Haag needs to leave Old Trafford.
Talking of Ronaldo, Ten Haag’s man management has been poor. First, the Cristiano situation was handled badly, but then the Jadon Sancho situation was too.
There are more elite managers than David Moyes and Zidane in the world of football, but they both can argue a case for succeeding in the Manchester United dugout.
It’s also easy to beat Erik Ten Haag with the stick in this bad phase for United. The facts are, the signings have been his signings, he doesn’t know how to handle the press, and he doesn’t know how to handle players too.
The former Ajax boss is digging his own grave. Spare us the mercy, and spare yourself too. Reportedly Bayern Munich want to give you the job, take it.
