Real Madrid left it late to beat Bayern Munich with two late goals from Joselu to help them overcome the challenge of a brave Bayern. The Bavarians are six-time Champions League winners and came into this game with purely nothing to lose. 

Real were having the better of the game. Bayern Munich skipper Manuel Neuer having to be at his best on several occasions. Neuer had a good game on the whole, but he would cruelly make the error which allowed Los Blancos back into the game. 

Just when everyone who was watching the game was getting ready for extra-time, Real Madrid would score again through former striker Joselu. The former Stoke and Newcastle striker was only meant to play a bit-part role for Real, but he has been anything but bit-part. 

An option off the bench he may have been for large parts of the season, but time and time again Joselu has scored crucial goals for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. To add to the drama even further, Bayern were left fuming when Matthijs de Ligt had what appeared a legitimate goal flagged for off-side.

Much to the surprise of those from the Bayern Munich persuasion, this decision was not checked by VAR, even though after looking at the incident again on TV, maybe it should have been. 

So Bayern are out and Real Madrid are through. The Spanish side go through to face Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley.
