Hello, good morning sports fans, and football fans I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health. We need to talk about an issue, that is important to me, it’s football.

Not just football, my concern is that it looks like that time of year is coming, managerial sackings. On the whole this year, managerial sackings haven’t been too many.

There have been plenty in the Championship, but only Paul Heckingbottom and Steve Cooper in the Premier League, please correct me if I am wrong. Sadly, yes I phrase it as such, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson, who is somewhat of a managerial legend could be next.

After yesterday’s 5-0 loss to Arsenal, the nails are only getting hammered deep into that proverbial coffin. Hodgson, admittedly is no Pep when it comes to tactics, but he’s been around more than long enough to know his way around managing a football club.

The Eagles have won just once in five games and are just five points above the drop zone. After coming into save a faltering season last term, Roy Hodgson who had come out of retirement for his second spell at Selhurst Park, surprised many, including me to take the reigns for this season too.

Crystal Palace is a well-run club. It wasn’t too long ago that The Eagles had an old ageing squad, but with the excellent work of Dougie Freedman and co, Palace do have a young and exciting team.

With the way that Roy Hodgson managers, maybe some of these players can benefit from a manager whose sides play on the front foot, rather than the counter-attacking football that the Fulham manager’s side produce.

Steve Cooper, who was sacked by Nottingham Forest has been heavily linked with the job and Graham Potter formerly of Brighton is still out of work too. If Steve Parish and the American owners wanted to change, then they should have made the change before the transfer window.

With next to nothing left of the transfer window, is it wise to look for a replacement? Almost certainly, the new man that comes in, will have new ideas and need some new faces to implement those very ideas.

If Palace were to opt for change, then Steve Parish, Dougie Freedman and whoever are the decision makers at the club should look to appoint Steve Cooper. The Welshman is unattached, so Crystal Palace won’t need to pay compensation.

Forever being the optimist and hating managerial sackings say that Palace should thank Roy Hodgson for his service, and give him a great send-off and let Steve Cooper move the club forward.
