Pakistan’s woeful Australia/New Zealand tour continued as they lost to The Kiwis by 21 runs, which means they are 2-0 down in the T20 series.
To be fair to Shaheen Afridi’s men they did put up a better showing with the ball.
After conceding well over 200 in the first game, Pakistan’s attack was able to somewhat restrict the hosts after Finn Allen scored a belligerent 74.
Bar Allen’s superb knock, no one else was able to go on to make a big score, but fortunately for Kane Williamson’s side, enough players made some form of contribution which proved key.
A Mitch Santner cameo (25) helped New Zealand to get an impressive 194-8. A good score by the home side, but potentially getable after they weren’t able to pass 200 for the second T20I in a row.
The Kiwis need not be worried. Despite Babar Azam carrying on his form from the last game (66) and Fakhar Zaman making a telling contribution too (50), only the Pakistan skipper (21) made any score of note.
A better showing for Pakistan with the ball, which was led by Shaheen (0-30 off four overs) and Abbas Afridi (2-43).
The 24-year-old Shaheen who will be leading Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, will no doubt be aware of the challenges of leading his country.
Despite his young age, Shaheen Shah Afridi has impressed as a captain in domestic cricket. Afridi led the Qalandars to back-to-back PSL titles.
