Hello, good afternoon sports fans, I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health.

Sports fans, I want to talk about an issue that I see as important, the news that Napoli striker Victor Osiehn will be extending his stay at the Diego Maradona Stadium till 2026.

This news is a bit surprising, the reason why? Well, this seems to me like Kalidou Koulibally all over again.

The former Napoli captain, who for a good three, maybe four seasons was amongst the best centre-backs in world football.

Everyone in the football community was united in the thought that it’s a case of when and not if he will be leaving Naples.

Eventually, in the case of the Senegalese star, Koulibally would leave. Not for Barcelona as he was linked to on more than one occasion and not to Manchester United either, but instead it would be Chelsea.

The Blues, for a Kalidou Koulibally, some would argue just past his peak and sadly this is how it proved. The former Genk man struggled in West London.

Koulibally would be offered a lifeline and was sold to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Osimehn had been offered to Pro League sides, but a move didn’t materialise.

Now it’s early doors, but potentially the signing of the new contract by Osimehn has ‘trapped himself’, like Koulibally and the way Tottenham striker Harry Kane did before them.

For Victor Osmiehn’s sake, let’s hope he will play at the highest level. In reality, though, it doesn’t look anytime soon.
