Arsenal, who are second in the Premier League currently, will face Portuguese giants Porto after the Champions League round of 16 draw was announced.

In what’s usually a very smooth operation, famously didn’t go to plan a few seasons ago, and the draw had to be repeated as a result.

Some teams benefitted from repeating the draw, others didn’t. I mention this because I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this.

As for The Gunners, they’re up against Porto, who were of course winners with Jose Mourinho in the early 2000s.

The Dragoes finished second in their group and are third in their domestic league behind Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.

Some seeing this draw, might argue this is an easy draw for Mikel Arteta’s men, but in the Champions League and particularly Champions League knockout football, there is no such thing as an easy game.

Manchester City who are the holders, are up against FC Copenhagen, conquerors of Manchester United. City, who many argue are the best team on the planet at current, are overwhelming favourites, we see them as favourites too.

The Danish champions should give a good account of themselves, from a neutral standpoint, let’s hope so.

Games between PSV and Borussia Dortmund as well as Serie A champions Napoli and La Liga winners Barcelona, should be intriguing.
