Aston Villa followed up their 1-0 win over champions Manchester City with another 1-0 over Arsenal.
Villa, who have impressed this season, were too difficult to handle early on and got the opening goal and ultimately the winner through skipper John McGinn.
Key to Aston Vila’s play this season has been their high intensity. After their midweek efforts, naturally, it was going to be difficult to maintain such a level.
Credit to Unai Emery’s men, they were well organised. Arsenal did have a goal ruled out for offside, but Emery’s well martialled side kept The Gunners at bay.
As a result of this win for Villa, they’re third in the table and Arsenal are second, with Liverpool leading the way.
The Midland club are reliving the early 90’s. This was the last time that they were as high as they are in the table currently.
Imagine if Aston Villa got rid of those ‘sweaty jerseys’ earlier. They could have been challenging the top two, who knows?
