Football mourns the passing of an icon. Former England manager Terry Venables, has tragically passed away at 80, after a long illness.
The former midfielder managed QPR and Tottenham in England as well as Barcelona in the 1980’s. El Tel as he was also known, was one of several managers in that era to work abroad.
Sir Bobby was another of course. Venables, was a pioneer and a revolutionary, with his high-press attacking football.
The legend of a man would go on to manage England too, taking them to a memorable run in Euro 1996.
As hosts England got to the semi-final, painfully losing to Germany in the semi-final, on penalties.
Terry Venables you will be missed, winner of the 1991 FA Cup with Tottenham and a winner of LaLiga with Barcelona, people don’t always appreciate this man won hearts too.
