Manchester United legend, Sir Bobby Charlton passed away at the age of 86. Charlton was a European Cup winner with Manchester United and was of course one of the Busby Babes.
The Busby Babes was the affectionately named dream team that manager Sir Matt Busby built in the 1950s, only for tragedy to strike on one fateful night travelling to Munich.
In 1958, the Munich air disaster took the lives of eight of Sir Bobby’s teammates, but the man himself survived.
Fate was writing some fairy tales for Man United’s former record goal scorer. Charlton scored 249 goals for United and 49 for England, not forgetting to mention the man himself became world champion in 66.
Fitting Sir Bobby Charlton would become an ambassador for the club and one of the directors. A great man, a great human being, Sir Bobby Charlton, the world of football will miss you.
