Hello, good afternoon sports fans, it’s me, Ayyaz Malik, aka The Sports Buff. I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health.

We need to talk about an issue that’s relevant in the world of sport, that my friends and friendettes (yes it’s a thing now), Manchester City.

The three-time defending champions are looking to make history and become the first side to win four league titles in a row.

Rangers, Celtic, Juventus and Bayern can leave the chat, for just one moment as they have many titles in a row.

Man City’s squad, which was a squad that had won their first treble in their history, was arguably one of their best sides ever.

Teams, especially as one as successful as Man City’s will have players who will always be looking to keep motivated.

Some players do this by moving clubs, others do this by getting increased responsibility in the side.

This was supposed to have happened to Cole Palmer when Riyadh Mahrez left the club and news emerged that Kevin De Bruyne will miss three months with injury.

With two players sold, in positions that Cole Palmer could have played, I am at a loss as to how the Wythenshawe-born midfielder isn’t at the club.

Jeremy Doku is a good player, but with FFP now a real factor to factor in. I seem to do this every season, so yes I am going to do this now too.

All the great sides, not just in the Premier League go through bad periods. If my memory serves me correctly, Manchester City had a downturn in form around this time last year too.

Not sure what the Premier League champions have an issue with, when it comes to October, it’s the greatest month to be born, because I was born in that month hehe.

I am going to go out on a limb and say, I think this is the season that their over tinkering to their side will cost them.

Despite all the tinkering they have done to their side, it’s the loss of Belgian Kevin De Bruyne is one player that no one could replace in world football.

At face value, champions Manchester City are in a mini-crisis, they’ve lost two in a row and they’re two points behind Tottenham, who are joint-top with Arsenal.

Overreaction theatre in full-flow, but just like I did last term, I am going to say Pep, selling Cole Palmer was a bad decision.

To compound the misery, he looks to be settling into life at Stamford Bridge now too.

That’s the thing, we football writers and football fans, love playing football manager without even playing the game.

Like I said before, if Manchester City win the title, despite selling Cole Palmer, I said I will eat my hat.

You will have to believe me when I say I did that. In my defence, I did do it last year.

Be sure not to miss out on their fantastic buy two get third free deal (3 for 2).
