There is no need to adjust your phone screen, or tablet screen for that matter, what you’re going to read is correct, Max Verstappen didn’t win a race.
Are you sitting down? Well, good if you are.
After a winning sequence of 12 races, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, ended the two-time defending champion’s near effortless pursuit of world title number three, for now, by winning the Singapore Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Verstappen would end up finishing fifth at Marina Bay. Although not the result he would have wanted, even being able to finish fifth is something to take away.
Max Verstappen was at one stage 11th in the Grand Prix. Despite his win and this rare non-pole for Verstappen, he still leads the World Championship standing by 151 points from Sergio Perez.
Carlos Sainz Jr., the race winner in Singapore, is fifth in the standings still a mammoth 82 points worse off than the Mexican Perez who is second.
The F1 calendar moves to Japan this coming weekend, from 22nd to 24th September.
