At this point, I am running out of superlatives for him, but what he’s doing is superb and more!

Serbia’s Novak Djokovic
who arguably at times who’s spoken about for what he does off the court, always ultimately lets his racquet on the court do the talking.

From political stances in the French Open and not being able to travel to certain tournaments due to COVID-19 and his personal choices around that, Novak at times came across as a polarising figure.

But make no mistake about it Djokovic was in inspired form as he beat former World number one Daniil Medvedev in straight sets at the US Open.

This was supposed to be more challenging than that, but the greater the challenge, it appears the more Novak jigs himself up to prepare for the task at hand.

Medvedev did beat his Wimbledon conqueror Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final, so the Russian must have been hopeful and a tad optimistic, but Novak was determined not to be denied.

Novak Djokovic pulls clear and moves out on his own as the most successful men’s player in the history of tennis with 24 Grand Slam titles.

Only Margaret Court who also won 24 Grand Slam titles stands in Novak’s way to claim overall supremacy in the sport.

There was me thinking that Djokovic might be slowing down in his old age.
