It’s clearly getting too easy for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to win the Premier League.
After going through back to back epic title tussles with Liverpool, The Cityzens have moved the goal posts.
Last season after famously selling Raheem Sterling and Oleksander Zinchenko, I said Pep’s lost the plot and when his City side lose the title, this will be the reason why.
But what do I know about football? Premier League champions Man City would chase down Arsenal and eventually win the League at a canter.
In fact, this discussion needs to be brought back a further season. Two seasons ago, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City didn’t have an out and out striker, like they do in Erling Haaland.
Did it affect them? You work it out, to clarify it didn’t, not at all.
City, did come up short in Europe and lost a semi-final that they should have won, arguably due to a lack of finisher to finish off Real Madrid.
Now we move on to this season, and see what has Pep done to make the Premier League more challenging for himself.
The Spaniard has sold Aymeric Laporte, but he’s replaced the Basque defender with the signing of Josko Gvardiol, who many see as the best defender in the world right now.
Riyadh Mahrez, has also been sold, but Jeremy Doku has replaced the Algerian winger. Ilkay Gundogan is another who has left, but Matteo Kovacic has been brought in to replace the former club captain.
That all seems, not too much out of the ordinary. The news that inspirational midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will be potentially out for four months is a killer blow.
Phil Foden looks like he will fill that void. Pep, this isn’t like you, you have addressed each problem, with a like for like change.
O, that’s it, you need an operation for your back and won’t be on the touch line for two games. Pep Guardiola you, you had us all thinking you wouldn’t give the rest of the league some chance.
Maybe this enforced two game absence from the touch line could be it. If this doesn’t work, then, sorry remaining Premier League bosses, he can’t be beaten over the season, he can only beat himself.
