The last time I said this, I said it in jest, but now the stats match. England international Jude Bellingham scored his fifth goal in his first four games for Real Madrid.
A certain Cristiano Ronaldo (the club’s record goalscorer), achieved the same feat when he first arrived in Spain.
Bellingham, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund in an £88 million deal (approx), has been Real Madrid’s shining light this season.
At the start of the summer transfer window, former Real legend Karim Benzema, announced he was going to leave the club.
From many inside the club, the concern was where will the goals come from now, especially since the deal to sign Kylian Mbappe is far from concluded.
That deal is most likely to be completed next season. As far as the now is concerned, it appears that Los Blancos have signed Joselu from Espanyol to fill that void.
With Mariano Diaz, who has been a backup striker at Real for many years also leaving, a new striker was paramount. Who is going to score the goals?
Well, if the early season is anything to go by, it’s Stourbridge-born Bellingham, the man with the golden touch.
The free and advanced role that manager Carlo Ancelotti has given him, has clearly helped.
Even with the news that Vinicius Junior has been ruled for several months with injury, appears to have not affected Bellingham.
It’s going to be a tall order for Jude Bellingham to be Real Madrid’s record goal scorer. Why I say this, as it seems it’s destiny that they will sign Kylian Mappe, a man whose sole job is to score goals.
When Birmingham retired his shirt number, even when he was a teenager, which led to much mockery, maybe the Midland’s club were being visionaries.
Birmingham City saw something I and the rest of the football community didn’t. Bellingham is a complete player at just 20 years old.
