The new footballing season is barely two games old, but for Manchester United already it promises to be a long season.

Why I say this is because despite winning the first game of the season, The Red Devils were poor and outplayed. In the second game, it didn’t get much better for Erik Ten Haag’s men.

This time it would be Ange Postecglou’s new look Spurs side who would put Man United to the sword. In this game, United did have some chances, but Tottenham were worth the three points.

The Lillywhites hit the woodwork on several occasions, so they could have won by more. These worrying signs can only be rectified by Manchester United going to the transfer market.

It’s not like they haven’t already, they have (at the time of writing) signed Rasums Hojlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana. They are good signings, but they need time to bed in of course.

So is the solution for Manchester United’s initial early season woes is getting new players? Yes, in part anyway.

Around the football club, the general consensus was that exiled striker Mason Greenwood will be integrated back into the team.

To show how disjointed United have been in the last 10 years, they have not been decisive enough in regards to the issue of Greenwood.

After initially showing signs he was going to be integrated back into the team, the Bradford born attacker is getting released from his contract and is now a free agent.

We’re not lawyers here at Sports Courant, but I Ayyaz Malik, a Manchester United fan was of the opinion that he shouldn’t have been allowed to play for the club again.

Everyone is entitled to second chances, but based on reported evidences presented to the courts, it seems difficult to see how one could come to any other conclusion.

Why the prolonged deliberation? I don’t know. This case and lack of big decisions made at the crucial times, is why Manchester United will struggle this term.

Over £1 billion spent and now the fifth permanent United manager in the Old Trafford hot seat, fundamental parts of the team are in disarray.

The centre of the park is still unbalanced and at the heart of the defence, early season question marks are being raised.

Why I also pain the picture of doom and gloom is that Man United have lost on two transfer targets and if they’re not careful they’re going to lose out on a third, Sofyan Amrabat.

In short, in life and to get ahead in life, one looks at a problem and tries to solve them, quickly, head on and before others notice there’s even an issue.

Jonny Evans, with the greatest respect to the Northern Irishman isn’t a resolution at centre-back. Yours truly naively thought Man United had changed when they signed young and up and coming Hojlund, clearly not.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Man United’s rivals appear to be in control of their transfer business, the same can’t be said of Manchester United.

It’s your call United, you can rectify these issues, or you can face a long season and regress from last season. The Choice is yours.
