The Turkish Super Lig clubs have continued their spending spree for Premier League players after Istanbul giants Galatasaray agreed a deal to bring Hakim Ziyech to the club.
Morocco international Ziyech was in the international wilderness until ending his exile for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. In the Middle East, he became a player reborn in the Winter World Cup.
The hope was the 30-year-old could carry on his renaissance at club level. Sadly for Ziyech, this didn’t happen.
For the Premier League season’s opener against Liverpool Hakim Ziyech wasn’t even in the matchday squad.
It was to be expected to be fair, especially since the former Ajax man doesn’t have a Chelsea squad number.
Unfortunately for the Morocco star, a departure was always inevitable. Ziyech not travelling with the team for their USA Pre-Season tour and the soon-to-be-completed signing of Michael Olise, didn’t bode well.
At just 30, Hakim Ziyech still has some of his good years left in his career. Despite moving to a different league and country, the Moroccan will have Wilfried Zaha formerly of Crystal Palace as a teammate.
All that’s left is for him to complete the medical. Ah the medical, Ziyech knows all about that too well.
