Italy’s Euro 2020/21 winning manager Roberto Mancini has resigned after five years in charge of the Italian national team.

Mancini, who was formerly of Manchester City and Inter Milan had been under fire due to missing out on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and having a slow start in the Euro 2024 Qualifiers.

The Azzuri are third in their qualifying group. for a nation with the history of the Italians, International tournament qualification is a must.

At this point, it’s not obvious where the former Sampdoria striker will go, if he does make a return to club management.

This is Carlo Ancelotti’s last year at Real Madrid before Don Carlo takes the Brazil job, this is what reliable sources understand.

At one stage it looked like a reunion with Inter could have been on the cards, but to his credit, Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan have seen results improve.

Replacements for Roberto Mancini could be too early to say, but one man who should be considered for the role is Antonio Conte.

The former Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Tottenham boss did a respectable job with The Azzurri in his first spell.

One real left-wing suggestion is for the Italian FA to go for Jose Mourinho. Before you knock the suggestion, give it some thought.

Jose has won all there is to win on the club circuit. With the greatest respect to The Special One, he is at that age, where an International job won’t do any harm.
