Not since Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandez have fans been so excited about a new signing, but Andre Onana is a reason for United fans to get giddy.

The Cameroon international at 27, is at the peak of his career and has an impressive CV. Onana has played for the likes of Barcelona (academy), Ajax and last season of course Andre Onana was at Inter.

Onana will transform the way Man United play, the same way Ederson transformed Man City. The Cameroonian is not only commanding in his box, he is commanding out of it too.

A good example of this was the Champions League final against City. With the naked eye, Andre Onana’s goalkeeping comes across as anything but risk-averse.

Football fans, there’s a method to the madness as there is with Alison’s goalkeeping and the aforementioned Ederson of Manchester City.

Sure Onana will make some mistakes, but so do the other two, every player on the football pitch makes mistakes, it’s just goalkeepers’ errors are highlighted more.

Cameroonian Onana, is replacing David De Gea after the former left The Reds after 12 years. Spaniard De Gea, who won several Golden Glove awards and club Player of the Season awards was sadly in decline.

His strong suit,  his shot-stopping skills, seemed to have deserted him last term. There are many other games, but the FA Cup final was a prime example of the former Atletico man’s ability on the wane.

David De Gea’s kicking was awful and it didn’t allow his side to press Manchester City maybe as much as they could have done.

De Gea has never been one for being good with his feet, but Andre Onana certainly is. This will help United press higher up the pitch and I think turn Harry Maguire into a good player.

The former Man United skipper has never been a centre-back suited for playing with a high-line system, but with Onana sweeping, the former Leicester defender Maguire could revive his career.

Harry Maguire, is good on the ball and plays well when the game is at his pace, it’s something to consider for Erik Ten Haag.

Manchester United were too open last term and shipped an alarming amount of goals for a top-four side.

Onana’s signing is revolutionary as he’s replacing a long-serving goalkeeper in David De Gea, but he will change United’s style.

Manchester United can push up in their own half and squeeze the opposition. Inter Milan in the Champions League final and made life on the pitch a living hell for European champions Manchester City.

Your example is there when Onana’s sweeping keeping is put into action. Guardiola’s City are one of the best offensive sides on the planet and they struggled to break Inter down.

At £47 million and a player at the peak of his powers, if he looks after himself properly Andre Onana can be at United beyond the five years deal he has signed.

This deal signifies a momentous change at Old Trafford, Onana being the signing of the season, might be a stretch to some, but this man can literally transform the backline, due to him being a hybrid centre-back and goalkeeper
