Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have been given permission to speak to want away France striker Kylian Mbappe.

The Saudi club, offered the world record amount (£259 million) last night, which PSG accepted. That doesn’t mean this deal is completed, far from it.

Mbappe himself has maintained from the start that he won’t leave the club this summer and will do so next summer on a free, but this isn’t something that Paris Saint Germain owner Nasser Al-Kilaifi is willing to accept.

On several occasions, the PSG chief has been firm in his stance, which is to sign a new deal or leave the club, and you won’t be allowed to leave for free.

The reported £700 million that’s being quoted by several media outlets for an overall package for the France captain is nothing short of eye-watering.

But, again if reports are to be believed, Kylian Mbappe isn’t interested in leaving Europe to play in the Saudi Pro League, even if that does pave the way for the 24-year-old to join Real Madrid next season.

The previous world record bid also involves PSG when they signed Neymar from Barcelona in a £198 million deal.

Despite such an eye-watering bid, France captain Mbappe doesn’t want to move to the Middle East. There are some things money can’t buy.
