Tottenham have completed their second signing under new manager Ange Postecoglou, with the signing of Leicester midfielder James Maddison. The Coventry trainee joins Spurs on a five-year deal.

Maddison, who has also played for Norwich in his career, joins in a £40 million deal and becomes the second signing for Spurs this summer. Despite Leicester’s struggles last term, James Maddison was able to come out with some credibility.

The former Norwich man scored 10 goals and had nine assists last term. Newcastle were said to be also interested in signing Maddison, but with their close to being successful signing of AC Milan’s Sandro Tonali, James Maddison will be heading to North London.

Having been earmarked as player that Tottenham boss Postecoglou wanted at all costs, James Maddison comes at an arguably discounted transfer fee. The former Celtic boss will be thrilled with that no doubt. Reportedly Leicester did want £60 million, even some were saying £70 million, but this £40 million deal sees a just short of 50% reduction.

Here at The Sports Buff, we think it’s a good deal concluded by Spurs and they haven’t had to pay heaven and earth for him, so well done Daniel Levy and CO with this one.
