Arsenal have agreed a £65 million fee for Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz. The former Bayer Leverkusen man who cost The Blues £71 million, leaves West London after a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old Havertz scored the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final, but his highlights in England have been few. There was talk of former manager Thomas Tuchel now at Bayern wanting to reunite with the player, but such a move didn’t materialise.
Kai Havertz’s arrival appears to almost certainly put an end to Folorin Balogun’s Arsenal career. The former Reims loanee who excelled in France last season has been linked with a move to AC Milan.
The USA international has said he doesn’t want another loan move. As good as he has for Will Still’s side last year, on the flipside The Gunners should be able to command a good transfer fee for the 23-year-old.
In other Arsenal transfer news have had a second bid turned down believed to be £90 million (plus add-ons) for West Ham captain Declan Rice. Manchester City and Manchester United are said to be monitoring Rice’s situation.
In the case of the Chelsea academy player Rice, it’s only a matter of when rather than if he will leave The London Stadium.
