Casper Ruud beat Alexander Zverev 6-3 6-4 6-0, to set up a final with 22-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic, who defeated Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz in four sets, before the start of the second semi-final.
Norwegian Ruud, who is the fourth seed at Roland Garros was just too good for the German Zverev. The 26-year-old Zverev, who painfully fell short in the semi-final last year, due to suffering an ankle injury court, has shown glimpses that he’s getting back to somewhere near his best.
On the day, Alexander Zerev was simply outplayed as he hopes of getting to a French Open final end for another year.
Last year’s beaten finalist Ruud, who lost out to Rafael Nadal, will be hoping to get the better of Novak Djokovic, the two-time French Open winner. Having been a beaten finalist in the US Open too, Casper Ruud will be hoping his fortune changes on Sunday.
The 24-year-old is due a bit of lady luck, but it will be hard to get it when he’s playing one of the greatest players of all time. Casper Ruud is now the fourth Scandinavian male to reach three or more Grand Slam finals, after Bjorn Borg, Mats Wilander and Stefan Edberg.
