Two-time defending world champion Max Verstappen, won the Spanish Grand Prix at a canter. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton was second. In what was a good week for Mercedes, Hamilton’s teammate completed the podium, as he finished fourth.
Verstappen’s teammate and only apparent title rival for this year’s championship, Sergio Perez was fourth. The Mexican is now 53 points behind his teammate.
For double world champion Verstappen, this is his fifth race win in seven races. For the neutral, it’s disappointing that no one has been able to get close to Max Verstappen, but it’s a credit to the Red Bull car and Red Bull driver.
One positive to take from this weekend was the improved showing of Lewis Hamilton who had a difficult season last year and a slow start to this one. Both Hamilton and Russell were able to be competitive at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona.
The F1 calendar will be taking the F1 drivers to Canada next as the chasing pack will be hoping to catch world champion Verstappen in the Canadian Grand Prix.
