Double world champion Max Verstappen won a Monaco Grand Prix, which saw former two-time world champion Fernando Alonso finish second. What made the win more impressive was that the Red Bull driver had to survive a mid race downpour in Monaco.

Verstappen, who won the title in convincing fashion last term, at this stage of the season, seems all set to add a third world title. A fourth race win in six appeared to be a mere formality until the rain intervened.

Team Red Bull weren’t decisive enough in their decision making for when to bring in the world champion. From their point of view, thankfully it wasn’t a costly error.

Verstappen’s win in Monte Carlo , is his fourth in six races this year, which moved him 39 points clear of team-mate Sergio Perez in the championship, who appears to be the only credible challenger to him.

The Mexican had a nightmare race after starting from the back following his crash in qualifying and would end up finishing down in 17th place. Alonso’s positive showing in Millionaires Playground sees him third in the driver standings in his Aston Martin.
